Henry Hoover - Died like a deflating raft...

Hi all

My Henry died today, I set it to full power which it did, but then dropped itself back to normal power leaving the full power light on!!??

I thought the bag might need changing so I did that (it was full) and tried again. Same thing happened, started up fine, went into hi power mode fine, then droped back to Low power again, briefly popping back into high power at one point point, and then the motor started to "wind down" to a pathetic sounding low level then just stopped, with the light still on.

I've read it might be the heat cutout, Hi/Lo switch, or the brushes, or the pwoer plug, or the copper contacts in the cable reel.

These symptoms lead me to believe it could be either the heat cutout or the hi/lo switch.....but anyone got any experience with this problem? The vacuum is about 6 years old but otherwise seems to be in good shape.

Just an update, it's working again this morning, so I think it might be overheating. Perhaps this can be resolved with new motor brushes?
