Is it too late?

Is it too late.
I have received the first letter from DRP with the standard stuff on it.
As far as I am concerned I have never received any official notice from UK parking control Ltd. lostl
I know it seems pointless but I have written to drp to tell them I never received the initial notification and to request from their client that they send a copy of the original PCN. I got my useless reply telling me that the problem is with the post office.
In the meantime I have written to McDonald's asking them to cancel the parking charge as it is unfair for various reasons etc etc
My point is on the DRP letter the date of the alleged parking incident was 13/05/14. Is it now too late to launch an appeal with POPLA? How do I reset the clock to start my appeal?
I have read all the newbie threads and I cannot see any post relating to this.
Thank you

surely when you read the NEWBIES sticky thread you saw post #4 ? about debt collectors like DRP and ignoring them (or writing the robust letter back like you say you have done already)

Surely you also saw post #6 about complaining to the BPA and the DVLA ?

or the part that says its never too late to appeal, so APPEAL ANYWAY !

ie:- appealing to the PPC with the template appeal in post #1

if you are not the driver on the day then you also missed the part about resetting the clock

oh sorry, you are correct, there is nothing in that NEWBIES thread that relates to any of your post , sorry ;)

but you are correct in complaining to the landowner

You're probably too late to launch any appeal, although there's nothing to stop you trying the one in post #1 of the NEWBIES sticky and send it to UKPC.

However, as the RK, you have the option to name the actual driver on the day to UKPC and that will reset the clock. You don't need to say on here who was driving on the day, but if it wasn't the RK, then the driver could be named.

See NEWBIES sticky post #4 - you can ignore debt collectors they can do nothing other than pester you with letters; ignore totally anything they send saying they will be taking you to court - they can't; only the landowner or the PPC can do this. UKPC are not currently litigious (no guarantee how they will behave in future, and they have up to 6 years to chase an alleged debt through the small claims court). Do not ignore any LBC/LBA or MCOL from either of the two potential litigants above. Come back if received for more advice.

You need to complain to the DVLA and the BPA about this failure to follow procedure on the part of UKPC (and mention that, once again, DRP suggest it's a PO problem - that's being trotted out far too often to be credible now!). Email addies in post #6 of the NEWBIES sticky.

Continue to press McDonald's - local managers have proved best placed in the past to get charges cancelled; you won't get much joy from McD's head office.

And wise up - this is ONLY UKPC! :) Never too late to ignore them, if you've missed POPLA that's tough but not a problem.

Today I had a result! Using, so the information from this forum. I have got them to cancel the parking charge notice. I mentioned that it could not be a genuine pre-estimate of loss and that they are obliged to provide me with all information necessary to mount a defence and my numerous requests for a copy of the parking notice has been met with an evasive response . thus preventing me from launching a meaningful appeal. All charges have been cancelled , just when I was getting warmed up. Thanks to the information on this website.
Also, I have to comment about some of the unfriendly responses directed towards newbies on this site. There are rather obtuse

So their response to your demand for a copy of the original notice was...not a copy of the original notice...but a cancellation! Makes you wonder if there ever was an initial notice doesn't it?

If you're still warm you could and should complain to BPA Ltd. and DVLA about this sharp practice. Your MP too if you're really up for it.

I agree about the way that Newbies often get treated here (even the term "newbies" is pretty disparaging), especially given that the "Newbies thread" which people are often castigated for not reading is dense, hard to read and intimidating. As a professional propellerhead I've spent my entire working life learning how not to be a propellerhead with people who don't understand the geekery, and I can tell you that "Newbies thread" falls into all the traps.

The first step is not to assume people are stupid just because they struggle to understand something that one has spent a long time learning about. If one fails to remember this at the outset then it's all downhill from there.

The thing I can never understand is that, in order to have started a new thread in this specific sub-board, new posters must surely have sat there looking at page one before deciding to click 'New thread'. So what do I need to ask Crabman to change the title of the Newbies thread to, seeing as I am not allowed to put it in colour/bold in the title so cannot make it look more conspicuous? What 'headline wording' would make a newbie stop and NOT click 'New thread' unnecessarily seeing as the Newbies thread has the answers (usually)?

I agree the newbies thread is too wordy and needs a re-write when I get time (sadly not possible in the middle of results weeks at the School I work at!). :)

I have read many times the posts on this forum. I have also read the links posted particularly the one on pre-action conduct and others. It gives me a decent grounding on which to go on the attack. Nevertheless, it is occasionally useful to ask the question to people with more experience. Reading other posts I do find some of the responses patronising and condescending. I appreciate it is a difficult job and many questions may be asked too many times. If you read between the lines and ignore the bluster, there is a heck of a lot of useful information which I found reassuring, and I really do appreciate the time that the regulars put in. I think it is just a question of frustration and tone. All I want to say really is a big thank you
