Finding landlords that accept dss?

I am living in Colchester and at the moment my current landlord accepts dss from me as I am on long term disability benefit so he knows the rent is consistent. I want to move though as the stairs are really starting to affect me but I've searched on all the property websites like rightmove, zoopla and some others but whenever I enquire about a place, they say the landlord isn't accepting dss.
Anyone been in a similar situation? How do you find landlords that will accept dss? It isn't like I'm on jobseekers and I could lose the benefits at anytime. I am on long term disability which means the rent would be guaranteed for at least 3 years.

You could try homeless centres in the area, who may well have contacts with landlords who accept DSS
Clik on http://www.homelessuk.org in their search box, several show up.

Been looking for some time. We have two disabled children on DLA and are both carers. Our income is pretty much guaranteed as they are never likely to leave home. But all LLs see is that we are on HB and just don't want to know.
We live in a very messed up society where benefit claimants will always be regarded as scum no matter for what reason they claim it.
I hope you manage to find something.0 -
Just to let you know, I'm a landlord and neither my mortgage provider or insurance company will allow me to accept people on benefits, it's not my personal stance :-( and those that did were considerably more expensive at the time. Good luck0

This is not the case.
As mentioned above, many btl lenders won't allow dss, or charge a premium, so it's not worthwhile.
You would perhaps need to find a LL with no mortgage.
Try adverts in shop windows.Should've = Should HAVE (not 'of')
Would've = Would HAVE (not 'of')
No, I am not perfect, but yes I do judge people on their use of basic English language. If you didn't know the above, then learn it! (If English is your second language, then you are forgiven!)0 -
Try the web site dssmove co uk0
