    Crystal Palace, hmmm..
My friend who lives off Grange Road moved in there a couple of years ago. Burgled twice (seems OK since got alarm). Bought car a few months ago, just a cheap old runner, it has had its back window smashed twice in the past few months, same happened to their neighbours.

I thought Grange Road was more Thornton Heath?

We live in Thornton Heath, and everything needs to be alarmed and/or nailed down :rotfl:

Seriously my old banger was always being targetted, but since I've had better cars with alarms, nothing.

But it's not too far from Crystal Palace, which I agree has some lovely bars and restaurants. And everyone is going on about this multi-million pound regeneration project in Croydon (it's going to be the new Covent Garden, doncha know) so prices could go up long term.
I have had many Light Bulb Moments. The trouble is someone keeps turning the bulb off :o

.....and after saying that about my car, I feel the need to touch everything wood shaped in sight...

the local park (Betts) has just received its pre-school summer hols dispersal order from the police...

    LOL
A trip down memory lane for me. I was brought up near Betts Park in the 1950s. We lived south of Croydon Road (Stembridge Road) and Mum always said to be careful when playing in the park as the roads around it were a bit rough even then.

Regarding Crystal Palace and being disabled, it is important to realise that Anerley Hill, the main road the station is on, is very steep. Quite a few of the roads around there are quite steep too. I am now disabled, although able to walk, and I couldn't live there for that reason.

Penge really has gone down from how it used to be. The area of The Groves (NW of Maple Road to the railway) is a huge estate, built/redeveloped in the 60s and 70s, and that is probably the worst area. I have just had a quick look on Rightmove and there are 5/6 bedroom houses for nearly £500K in the roads just the other side of Maple Road!! Last time I was there those looked OK. The roads nearer to Kent House Station should be nice, but then the transport links at that end are less varied.
