After going thru the process of claiming charges back via Halifax I received a letter to say they would pay me half the charges back into my account. What has now happened is they have paid the full amount of the charges into my bank account a week ago. How do I stand with this........should I tell them?
Also what happens if I want to go for more and not settle with half?

Sorry I don't understand your post, they offered half but paid the full amount but you want to claim more?
Can you clarify please.0 -
Sorry,
They sent me a letter to say they would pay half the charges directly into my account as a settlement.
They have actually paid the full amount in by mistake within approx 5days of the letter? What should I do?0 -
Sometimes, just sometimes I despair.
Obviously your claim is now complete as they have paid your full amount of charges so you close your claim.
You don't try to deny that they have paid the full amount and especially you don't try to continue to court to claim more.0 -
Thanks for your reply..........
Should I admit to the bank that they have refunded me the full amount and not the half they have put in the letter or keep quiet?0 -

But can they not demand the money back at a later date?0

They certainly will demand it back if you keep quiet about the money you have received and attempt to carry on to court for more.
Write back and accept the offer and put in the letter the amount you have received.0 -
But they have paid the full amount into my account so I don't want to go to court anyhow? Should I still write a letter confirming the amount that has been credited to me so I don't risk them asking for the money back at a later date?0
