Hi all,
Just wondered if Next only do a credit search on you when opening an online account and not every time you purchase an item?
I'm considering opening an online account, lured by £10 off the first order.

When my brother do have them, they credit check him every month, when he complained they said its just their normal T&C to minimize risk.
They change his credit limit up and down every month. that was last year so cant say for now.Aqua Advance £ 9500 ( Settled ) | BC Platinum Card 25/25 £10500 | 24 studio £1950 | SimplyBe £1800 | Nationwide Flexplus A/C OD £800| Meaningless Noddles score= 3/50 -

Is there a minimum period you have to stay signed up? If not, why not open an account, get the £10 discount, then close it thereafter?0 -
Next will make "periodic" searches of existing customers. However, these searches are of the quotation type only, meaning they're only seen by yourself and Next (and the CRA of course).
See the Data Protection section of their T&Cs...

Furthermore, the T&Cs state that if you do pass their credit scoring criteria and elect to pay by (debit/credit) card rather than 'on account', they will only record a quotation search.
If you do finish up with an account, watch out for the Directory and it's £3.75 charge. T&Cs seem to state they'll notify you one's ready for sending and give you the option of cancelling it.0 -
Thanks for that - I'm only interested in paying by credit card, not opening a credit account with them.
So I assume going down that road means no Directory and £3.75 charge?0 -
