Virgin travel insurance being extremely difficult and slow to pay claim

Hey all,

I had the misfortune of getting my wallet stolen whilst abroad but was comforted by the fact I'd taken out travel insurance. However this has quickly turned into a nightmare as Virgin travel insurance seems to be going out of their way to make the claim process as difficult as possible. I give them all the information they required and yet they keep calling me telling me that it's some anti fraud measure and that I must send even more information. It's getting ridiculous and I feel like they might never pay out even though I am in the right. It also irritates me that in my first letter to them I explained I had extra euros from work I did in Europe and sent pay slips and tax details but now they're again asking where the money came from.

The last letter was almost threatening and they'd wrote at the end that I should consider the claim because I'd only get £200 back at most! Are they trying to put me off?!

Should I preserve I know I am in the right but they is adding up in cost, time and effort and I find their efforts to trip me up insulting.

Complain to the ombudsman... that final letter does suggest that they are deliberately trying it on, something that is not permitted.

The claim is setting off their anti fraud indicators as would a claim for I guess for a few hundred euros would with most Insurers.

Can you provide proof of the £200 limit eg do you have receipts / bank statement for drawing this amount out or exchanging it at a bureau?

I have all of that and have sent it to them. I've provided all the evidence they've asked for so can only assume they're being difficult on purpose.
