Before everyone gets excited about flying on US to Philly in January, just checked to see if Dublin flights operate in January, and they don't, so that puts an end to it. Take the flight from Manchester at 1045.0

I've done this a few times - bought a seperate ticket London to Dublin on a LCC the day before -had a day in Dublin and my transatlantic ticket started that evening DUB to London and I've either gone home or stayed at the airport and flown the transatlantic sector the next morning. Luggage was either picked up at home or put in left luggage before flying to Dublin so no bag charge on the LCC.
For me a day in Dublin is like an extra holiday and I still save on average £300 ish so worth it for me.
Travelling in January I'd leave lots of time for delays though.I Would Rather Climb A Mountain Than Crawl Into A Hole
MSE Florida wedding .....no problem0
