:eek::eek::eek:
The security guard had to be called to stop the whoopsie brawl in Ts
I stood back & watched with horror as 'regulars' fought over the reductions
This started happening in many of my local Ts.
I don't bother going now...why fight over some meat/fruit & veg/dairy products?!
A lot of people have some beef with other reduced shoppers; I say it's time to give 'em the chop! Besides, is it worth it only to be served by a trout? I did pear up with my other half to make things easier; other shoppers were cheesed off when we did this. Anyway, things worsened at the reduced counter; so we said 'no shank you' to T.:grouphug:Official MSE canny forumite and HUKD VIP badge member

Also...with recent Morries F&V/meat offers and chicken glitches...I feel well stocked up on typical reduced items.:grouphug:

I don't know wether Sainsburys are trying to 'up-brand' themselves but they will never be Waitrose or booths - I suppose they could be distinguishing themselves from the likes of Aldi or Lidle
Whatever they are doing they have def gone very expensive.
[...]
I had a thought about this the other day (yes, another one:o:eek:).
They are now nearly consistently more expensive on their Basics range (for example) than the competition. This, perhaps, on one view, doesn't bode well if the general public (i.e. not merely us real attentive watchers) start to perceive them (S) as generally more expensive. However, S are also trying to differentiate themselves by saying their own label are better quality than the competition (and this stance is consistent with their approach of not comparing own label products). "Not all food is equal" in Sains. view; for example the origin of their ham. So, they can say, that's why we don't compare them and you're getting Sains. quality!
You may get an impression as to what I may think about that!
But by having people perceive that their own label products are of better quality, allows them to mark up the prices accordingly and people will pay - are prepared to pay - more for what they perceive to be better quality. It's a very good way, IMO, of making more money by being able to charge more, despite the supermarket price wars, seeking to differentiate their products that enables them to charge more for them.0 -

Snap...your photos are great.
I have a confession to make.....I save most of them and send to DD with a Good a Morning each day:T thank you:)
Did an M&S shop today using GR and my own loyalty vouchers.
Without loyalty vouchers this shop would have cost me £11
It was essentially a £10 and a £6 meal deal.
Wine, chicken, crinkle chips and millionaire shortbreads for £10
Salmon en croute, cheesy jacket potatoes and cherry sponges for £6
I got all of it for £6 which is a cracking deal:) I can stretch is out to at least 3 meals using my own garden veg:TTo do is to be. Rousseau

Sains. more expensive than the competition. Sains. more expensive than the competition. Sains. more expensive than the competition. Sains. more expensive than the competition. Sains. more expensive than the competition. (I hope that's not defined as 'flaming':o.)
But - Sains. says - to Advertising Standards Authority - Mr T should not be comparing these at all against our store, as we are better quality. They even want T to stop comparing loose bananas vs Sains - even at same price for both - which of course makes absolutely no difference to us (to our PP if it's vs S) as S are "fairtrade". ASA rejected complaint, Sains. appealed to Independent Reviewer - lost. Sains. went to judicial review - last I heard - if that wins for them, in my view the (unintended) consequences of such a decision, in favour of Sains., could be very disadvantageous to us and the APG/PP schemes. Imagine APG having to remove all own label from comparison? That could quite often not work in our favour.
EDIT: This is the last I found - [Strike]any update beyond this?[/Strike]*
