Wifi on Enterprise

Options
Has anyone else found the wifi on the enterprise train to dublin intermittent ?
If yes, can you suggest any (tried and tested) alternatives?
Thanks

Your own 3G dongle would be the only alternative but it'll drop connections anyway due to the speed of the train.

What are you doing that needs a constant connection?

    From Translink

    "Are there any connectivity black-spots?

Yes there is intermittent coverage between Portadown and Newry and around Drogheda. This is beyond the control of Translink, Iarnr!d Éireann and Nomad Digital.

Also if there are many users it will slow to non existent in my experience

I found it nearly impossible to use. I'm now with 3 though so no excess roaming charges. It works well.

A 3G pay as you go dongle from 3 would be an option.

Agree with all the above - I get the feeling the Wifi on the Enterprise often can't cope with the number of people using it.

Wifi on the normal NIR services is usually ok, but occasionally takes the head staggers and needs the service provider to do something to fix it.

    Thanks for all the replies.
Have you used a dongle from 3 on the Enterprise? Or have you previously used your mobile phone as a hotspot?

As asked above, what are you doing that *needs* you to be connected constantly?

Maybe there are alternatives around that, rather than finding an alternative way of getting a constant connection?

I would like to do some work on the train (on a regular basis ) that requires a continuous internet connection.
I see other passengers with these "clamshell" like devices and wondered from personal experience if some where better than others.
    Thanks
