Will PIP back pay be considered savings?

As mentioned in a previous post, I have just been awarded PIP at the enhanced rates for both components. By my calculations, the DWP over me just over £7000 (not holding my breath for this though!).

I am aware that the savings limit is £6000 before your benefits are affected. At the moment I have zero savings.

My question is: Will the DWP consider that back pay, when and if it materialises, as savings? It would seem desperately unfair if they DID, as it's money they should have been paying me for months, but I wouldn't put anything past that shower.

Thank you for reading!

Not for a year, no. There is something about anything above £2k being disregarded (ignored) for good.

Thanks, Indie Kid - I reckon it'll have reduced substantially within a year.....probably within a month. Just had visions of them giving with one hand and snatching away with the other.....
