parking eye court letter, is this a legitimate letter?

Hi
We have received a court letter from the Parking eye for overstaying 2 hours in Morrisons car park. I was hoping to be able to post a picture of the letter on this forum to check that it is a legitimate one as they are asking for £160 but I can't work out how to post a picture :-/ Does anyone have any advice or know how I know that it is official? Also, as we were in the wrong for overstaying is it worth fighting or should we pay the £160? We were unaware that they took photos of the car entering and exiting the car park! There are signs around the car park saying that it will be a £85 fine for overstaying although I do think that this is steep!! Any advice would be great, thank you.

You have got to read a few threads and give us something to go on.
Dates of contravention, notice to keeper, £100 is usually the non-discounted maximum.
Where etc etc.0 -
if its from Northampton bulk handling centre for MCOL claims then yes its legit , they issue thousands of these every year, and should not be ignored
use tinypic and add a hxxp weblink to a redacted scan if you need to, but if it has the court seal etc with it and says northampton then it will be genuine0 -
No idea why you would have (presumably) ignored the most litigious PPC these days, Oh dear, 'ignore' was two year old advice. Surely you got a Notice to Keeper and a Letter before Claim, if so why not at least check here? You now have a court claim if it came from Northampton bulk centre (via MCOL) - you don't have to show us.
Loads of court letters are discussed on here from PE - and yep you will need to acknowledge that claim, then defend it in full. IMHO, although this isn't a walk in the park, it would be mad to pay £160 now rather than try to defend it and if you win you pay nothing (also most people can claim their costs if they win in court). Not saying it's easy though.
See post #5 of the Newbies thread if you want self-help to write the defence (can be done from the links) or if you can't write the defence needed, consider paying £19.99 to Parking ticket Appeals (run by two other posters here) to write it for you.
But I know people have overcome the issue on their own by reading post #5 of the 'Newbies please read these FAQs first' thread. By defending the claim well, sussing out what happens when, downloading the Parking Prankster's guide (one of the many links), trying to get the case stayed for POPLA instead - and by complaining to the retailer of course. As you would...
There's a whole separate sticky thread as well as the top 'Newbies' thread, one called 'Successful complaints about PPCs' in Crabman's forum stickies near the top. Loads of cases cancelled, loads of Morrisons complaints examples shown in post #1 and #3 of it, several cancelled even at court papers stage. What you cannot do is delay or you lose.PRIVATE 'PCN'? DON'T PAY BUT DON'T IGNORE IT (except N.Ireland).
