Label all your boxes eg main bedroom clothes, then you can literally dump the box in/next to the wardrobe. For more specific boxes put a sheet of paper in the top of the box with the list of what the box contains.

Have a box or two with essentials you need, cleaning products, biscuits, tea and bedding, don't forget toilet roll either!

Get all your boxes in the right room, then before you do anything make your bed.

This time we moved we had packers, they're really efficient, they had a range of sizes and boxes were labelled like 'bedroom 1 bed side table' so everything was put in it's exact home in the previous house. The extra cost of the pack and unpack was £500 which actually I think is very reasonable.

You need my list of lists (and googler's invaluable list of people to notify)

Fantastic list & so helpful BUT also very scary. So much to organise!

very scary. So much to organise!

But satisfying to tick off things as they are done! I try to do a bit at a time.

I have cut out and pasted each list into a notebook, with a few blank pages in between the ones that may lead to me making extra notes.

So far I've done about half the "Before the move" list and half the "Organisations to notify once moving date is known", noting down things like confirmation codes and a reminder about the £50 voucher I'm due in a few weeks for signing up for building and contents insurance

And of course my packing box is ready, but the kids keep nicking the scissors :rotfl: Might forget to pack the kids!

Moving day should be two weeks tomorrow.

Oh, and in case it's useful to anyone Mike the Mover said that he estimates that a family in a three bed house will generate 40 boxes that need to be moved, on top of furniture

Those are medium size boxes, large boxes are reserved for light but bulky things like lamps. Books need to go in smaller boxes as they are so heavy.
