Other jobs on the list for my week off:

    Clean bedroom - done
    Clean DS's bedroom - done
    Clean Bathroom floor - done
Batch cooking for freezer (lasagne, veggie tart) - done
    Clean lounge - done
    Hoover through downstairs - done
Catch up on some admin -done
Shopping for DH birthday bits -done

Feel better now I've fished that list out. Sadly there is a big pile of creased shirts in the corner of the lounge looking at me. Having done all the above jobs (except DH's bday presents) today I have no energy for ironing - one of my most hated jobs. So will save that for the weekend.

Managed 10k steps again today - I think this is part of what's wearing me out - I should build it up gradually but I do tend to go off like a bull in a china shop. 10k steps is a lot more than I envisaged.

Had to buy the dog's arthritis medicine this morning - rather shocked it was £75 - having a dog who I've recently uninsured sure makes me appreciate the NHS and all that it provides.

Last week one of our phones broke leaving us with only one working land line device. As I work from home they are well used and vital. A week of bickering about the replacements and I have caved and ordered the ones DH wanted - £181  Every cheaper alternative I suggested & he just raised objections and pointed out faults with it. I just hope they last longer than the current ones did (less than 2 years). My only consolation is I will get £7 cash back at some point in the distant future :rotfl:

At least having been off work most household chores are done which leaves less for the weekend and best of all dinner is just a lasagne to put in the oven - for some reason I always hate cooking on a Friday. (even more than normal!).

Bit of an expensive morning - went to M&S as a pair of trousers I am wearing are constantly falling down and I didn't seem to own a belt. Ended up buying another pair of jeans (although suspect they will be too tight and end up being returned) as well. Plus we are out to friends for dinner tonight so nipped into the food section to get some wine/flowers etc and ended up spending £28 there - although I did have a £3 off voucher so that did reduce it slightly.

DH insisted on chasing the furniture company yesterday which I am no doubting was the right strategy - he found their head office no and rang that. Trouble is once he's back at work in London next week he wont' be able to chase them up again because of course the response from Head Office was that they would look into it and get back to him.

I just want my chairs!!!

We have found tiles, bricks and concrete randomly in our garden, we think its from when they renovated the house and decided it was easier to bury it than dispose of it! Hope it all gets sorted quickly for you! And I cant believe your chairs, thats just ridiculous! Will keep my fingers crossed that hubbys call has kicked them into gear!

Good god that company is ridiculous.. can you go in to the shop? I'd be inclined to do a sit in *pun not intended* until they sorted the chairs out then and there, with lots of explaining to potential customer about why i'm sitting there.. take your laptop and a coffee and set up your office on one of the show room dining tables! :rotfl:

Can you find out who the CEO/managing director is and phone straight through to them/email them/write a letter?

Is it a national company or local??

    Hi Jodles

Yes that could be the same with our garden since the house has been extended 3 times and all of the extensions have their 'features' so maybe thats where these bricks came from. Still haven't had a date from the garden guy for their removal but the clock is a ticking!

    Hi Cookie & Shalamoo

The furniture company is a big national one which is now part of the problem I think. It's part of the problem as you are just a number to them - and probably not that now since they've had their money. We did consider going into the shop itself but thought that might be a bit confrontational. DH is at least working from home tomorrow so will be able to chase up his call to HQ on Friday.

Thanks for your posts guys - nice to know my ranting and ramblings are read on occasion. :rotfl:

Productive morning so far, managed 6,000 steps on the dog walk, 2nd load of washing is in the machine and I have tidied the hall and sorted out the coat stand.

Parents are coming round for a late lunch - nothing like that as an incentive get the house in order - I think however old we are we still behave like that!

So need to sort the washing, hoover through - again - very muddy winter walks  and then tackle the shirt mountain and do the ironing.

Hopefully all my chores (with phone in back pocket) will help me get up to the 10k steps target today.

    Back to work tomorrow :(
  • Hi Pushkin

I haven't posted much recently but I've been keeping up with your diary. It seems to me you are seriously due some good financial luck, what a series of mini-nightmares you've been having!!

I'm also now trying to do 10,000 steps a day as I have a fitbit. I thought I would manage easily but I have struggled! It's ok when I have the nursery run but otherwise...!!!! I find I've been turning on the music so I am bopping around more to build up my steps.. doesn't matter that I look like a lunatic :rotfl:

Hi Katiegizmo - thank you - maybe we are due a lottery win higher than the £2.50 DH won at the weekend!

I am so reassured it isn't just me that finds 10,000 steps harder than anticipated. Last night I had 500 to go so was walking manically round the garden in the dark until I hit the magic 10k - much to DH's amusement.

Not I'm back at work and sat at a laptop all day it will be hard so my plan is to track weekly averages, try and do a couple of evening walks each week and walk further at the weekends when I have more time. Am shocked by how far it is and just hope this will become a routine - we shall see....

Back to work today and the usual Sunday night restless sleep.

Electrician starts Wednesday - 3 days work to sort out connection for garden office and do some re-wiring including replacing the consumer unit - just hope I can cope work wise, if the electric is cut off for too long I'll have to decamp to my parents to work

Finally had a call back from the furniture company and the missing chairs are due to be delivered Wednesday - I will reserve any cheering or joy until they are safely here - in the RIGHT colour

New land line phones we had ordered had not been despatched and when I rang the company they admitted they were out of stock and they didn't know when they would be available (this is 4 days after ordering them!) Cancelled the order and DH has ordered some other ones which are £80 less - so I'm happy :j

Garden bricks clearance now scheduled for Friday 6 March

All that has gone on and I've done a full days work - wow!
