Buy vs Keep.
Current Car.
F10 530D M Sport Reverse Cam, High beam assist, upgraded sound.
Miles 54,000 Age - year 3.
Reason for change.
1. Lost 48 days ownership, 21 visits, 8 warranty claims. 4 Paint incidents.
2. Fearful of further problems.
3. Don't feel inclined to spend on it.
Costs to keep car year 1
1. Warranty extension BMW £980
2. Brakes all round BMW £850
3. Service end 14 BMW £300
4. Tyres purchased already £1000 (spent)
Total cost to keep for 12 months - £3130 or £260.00 per month
Cost to change car for F10 2013 year.
1. Trade in value £21,000-23,000 cost to change £10,000
Or £10,000 minus £3130 which would be my cost of ownership this year.
What would you do, if you were in my shoes. I am stressed out about it:eek:

I would probably forego the warranty, and get an indy to do the brakes - probably half the price - and then drive on at it.
No guarantees a new car is going to be any better, and your depreciation will have leveled off.0 -
A more optimistic look may be that you have had a Friday afternoon car (never had a beemer like that though) and you have now put right all of its faults and, with a good, recommended, local specialist, you've got a car for life?0

Well to forego would be amazing, I hear that they look after their customers.... for things that should not go wrong that do, hence they either pay or go halfs for things.
I have now got another issue with it to do with suspension which I am investigating, so its quite a worry, lying in bed at night wondering if I have an argument about fixing this or that.
The only thing with the newer car is the no quibble warranty.
Trying to find a way round my discalcula in terms of losses, £ etc .0 -
1.
how long is the extended warranty at that price?
2.
Why so high? From a quick search performance parts are coming in at <£100 per axle. And it's certainly not such a big job it merits £650 of labour0
