PIP ad pension credit ?

My husband currently gets pension credit and i get state pension.
He has bee diagnosed with cancer and probably needs a laryngectomy.
If he puts in a claim for pip will it affect the pesion credit ?

    PIP is not means tested so his Pension Credit will not go down.

    In fact he may get some extra premiums (extra money) if he is awarded PIP.

    If he is awarded PIP you may be able to claim Carer's Allowance for him (as long as you are not already receiving it for someone else)

    As you receive a state pension you would not be actually entitled to any money for CA because state pension and CA are overlapping benefits but you would be entitled to a carer's premium on any means tested benefits you receive.

    When/if your OH is awarded PIP then post again for more details or go to CAB and ask for a benefit check up.

    You need to notify any benefit departments if OH is awarded PIP.

    PIP claims are taking a long time in some areas unless you have a terminal illness and can get a rapid claim in by your doctor completing a special form.

    Thank you for the reply .I already have carer premium for my son so i know i wouldnt be entitled to anything for my husband.Your reply is a great help.
