Riu Helios Bay Hotel,Obzor Beach.
Does anyone have any info on this hotel,it's supposed to be opening now but I can't get any credible detail from the travel agent or the Riu Hotel website.

I don't know of this hotel but personally I would not recommend Bulgaria or the Sunny Beach resort.
I went there about 10 years ago. It may have improved a lot since then but when I went it was awful - dirty, extremely basic hotels (rooms like prison cells!), food in hotel and surrounding bars was poor, kept getting pestered on the street to change money, kept getting short-changed in bars etc, beer was cheap but fowl! Flight there was awful too.
As I say maybe its changed, but I certainly won't risk going there again.0 -
I have a villa in Bulgaria. Its further north of Varna, near Golden Sands. I didn't go there 10yrs ago mind, all I can say is its changing rapidly. Big changes even in the last 18mths. Beautiful country and I think you'll be pleasantly surprised at how different it is to the rest of Europe.............but then I would say that!

Riu Hotels are a big Spanish group and their worldwide hotels are superb.
They set exacting standards throughout the whole group all over the world so there should be no problem regarding the standard even in Bulgaria.
I visited Sunny beach about ten years ago when it was very cheap.
I would imagine the whole of that coast has improved since then with money being invested and their EU membership coming up.
Even Thomson holidays goes there now!
The only Helios I can find is this one:
