quote for double glazed doors

Hi, I'm new to the forum. Just had a quote for supply and fitting of just 2 double glazed doors only with small clear window panel above each. No coloured glass, no extras. Quote is £3400 which seems very expensive. Would appreciate some good advice and support.

That does sound expensive. A small, local independent galzier would be the best place to look for value.
Half of that price wouldn't be unacheivable!Everything that is supposed to be in heaven is already here on earth.

Yeah that's crazy just had a solidor as part of a complete install, door was 650 even for someone to install two of them wouldn't be anywhere near even 2 grand, as dozen said stick with local boys they should be much cheaper than big firms..all the best0 -

Go local and you will easily achieve half this price.....make the most of it, we are only here for the weekend.

Are the doors and frame upvc,Alluminium,Timber?.
If they are timber what type of timber?. Softwood,Sapele, Super Prime quality European Oak?. Double glazed or single glazed?, Factory finished or just primed?. What type of ironmongery? etc etc etc. Does the quote include VAT if so that takes the quote down to £2,833-00 +vat. If they are Oak the materials alone can be well over £1,000-00. Good quality hinges can be over £30-00+vat a pair so there goes anothe £108-00, Toughend glass units £100 per square metre etc etc.
On the face of it , it may well seem expensive but without asking these types of questions no one can say for sure.0 -
Yeah way over priced, should easily get 2 upvc glazed door installed for around £12000
