Multiple current accounts - the debit card dilemma

No dilemma for me, have 30+ current accounts plus credit cards and carry only three debit cards and three credit cards in my wallet.


The rest are stored in a covert safe should I need them in the future.


Whenever I get a card for a new account that I am not going to use, I change the pin then store in the safe.

I usually shred the PIN advice note unopened and unused, except where needed for online banking.

I'd consider punching out the chip and the CVV number of cards that are unlikely to be used.

I have never been asked for a debit card number when opening an account recently (even when switching, in order to get a £100 bonus from Halifax) which is why I said:

Apparently according to several posters, since the introduction of 7-day switching, the debit card number IS sometimes requested.
