problem with zanussi tumble drier

My Zanusssi condenser tumble-dryer is playing up at the moment, and I'm wondering if it's fixable (by me), or if I'll need to pay for someone to come out..
It's just a basic dryer, with a timer setting and a fabrics setting (cottons/synthetics)
Usually the tumble dryer does its cycle, then the 'end' light shows and it beeps to indicate the end of the cycle. I then empty the water container.
But what's been happening recently is, the tumble dryer stops tumbling after only a few minutes, it beeps, and the indicator light says that the water container is full (when it isn't). I pull the water container out and a load of water leaks out onto my floor
so it seems like there's a pool of water getting stuck somewhere in the tumble dryer, and it thinks the tank is full when it isn't.
Has anyone encountered this problem? I was wondering if I need to take the back off the tumble-dryer, but I don't want to go fiddling around with things when I'm not an electrician!
Any ideas what I could do?

I think I'll be calling the engineer out. Hopefully it will be cheaper than replacing the dryer. The report button is for abusive posts, not because you don't like someone, or their opinions0
