again electrical seperation just an excuse, an approved method is simply to seperate services with a meter backboard.
kitchen cupboards is a hard one especially when the ecv has been blocked in. most are doable

the pipework can be due to new regulations, anything on the right hand side of the meter is the responsibility of the home owner.
Don't put your trust into an Experian score - it is not a number any bank will ever use & it is generally a waste of money to purchase it. They are also selling you insurance you dont need.

This still does not mean the customer should have to pay any of the cost of replacing the meter. If the supplier wants the customer to change any of the customer's pipework then the supplier should pay.

If the customer wanted to move the meter then they would have to pay for any work on the supplier's side (even though that work is the supplier's responsibility). Likewise when it is the supplier that wants the work done then they should pay for any necessary work on the customer's side.

I would not agree to anything unless the supplier puts in writing that they will agree to pay the cost in advance.

doesn't work like that, they will amend any pipework on their side. If a new meter is required and the supply not been upto it anymore they can refuse to supply a service

Do you think there is anything in the original post that suggests the supply is not up to it any more?

I simply thought the location of the pipes did not suit the new meter but were fine for the existing meter. In which case I would view the work being at the supplier's choice. The cost and maintenance of energy meters is included in customers normal energy bills. Therefore I would certainly be complaining in the original poster's circumstances.

Then they can supply a meter that fits!

new meters are different sizes, although my money is on the customer having work done after the meter was installed eg new boiler / internal pipes

If you could provide a picture to your current installation then that would be great.

This would allow those who know what they are talking about to give you a more in-depth answer to your question.

As has been said, anything from the outlet of the meter is your/landlords responsibility. If you have a boiler with a manual pilot light, occasionally when extinguished, these may not re-light, There is nothing a meter engineer can do, nor is it his/her responsibility to fix it, any good meter engineer would mention this before hand.

You say that pipes are too close together, but offer no more information, these could be water pipes, they could be gas pipes.

    there are 2 answers.

    1. There is something blocking the installation of a new meter.
    2. The engineer was being lazy as it was more work for him to do and not worth his time.
