Are wireless keyboards/mice locked to their dongles?

Just bought a Polaroid Wireless keyboard from Asda, and am well impressed with it.
A quick question, if I may.
If I later buy a wireless mouse, provided it's on the same frequency (in this case 2.4GHz), will it work through the same dongle as the keyboard, or will I have to install the dongle that comes with the mouse?
Also, is there any way to link the keyboard and/or mouse to my laptop, without using the supplied dongle(s)?
My laptop comes with Wireless, and a file folder called Bluetooth FTP, whatever that is

I would've thought they're locked - otherwise in large offices where many people have such equipment they'd all be controlling each other's PCs...0

Are the keyboard and mouse use Bluetooth or another connection mechanism.
If they are Bluetooth and you laptop has Bluetooth then you can easily pair them with your laptop.0 -
Not exactly sure how - but Logitech have software that allows a new mouse to work from the same dongle as an old mouse and keyboard. The new mouse must have a certain logo on it so it doesn't apply to any wireless mouse.0
