It is easy to open a US dollar account with Citibank in London, but many people do not consider it worth the monthly fee. A few years ago (before the fee was introduced) I did this, and they then helped me to open an account in the USA. Their US accounts offer free banking so long as you maintain a significant minimum balance, but their interest rates are rubbish.

I've seen Citibank in my search... i am estimating the bonds wont be anywhere near 25,000, i have seen this as a minimum in a lot of banks. First Direct said they'd give me £100 for switching then opening an off shore but.... it's all confusing who to choose.... xxxx

Are you looking to sell these bonds and put the proceeds into a bank account? If so, is it viable to have the cash transferred into wherever you do your banking just now, albeit with a one-off currency conversion hit?

Or are you looking to retain them in their bond form but in a different type of holding account from where they are now?
