Historical bank charges claim back

I thought I would share with you my brief story on this as I have seen that there a few conflicting reports on claiming bank charges back.
I wrote to Halifax Monday this week tallying up the charges I have been charged on one of my accounts for the past 7 years and explained that they contributed to my financial hardship at that time and also making me struggle now.
I claimed for the amount of around £2000 and received £1320
Now while I know that this was less than my original claim I still accepted it.
I am now in the process of claiming my mis-sold PPI premiums on a personal loan which is around another £2000 from HFC Bank so hopefully this will be succesful!
There is hope, if you dont ask then you do not get!

Obviously, the Bank deemed you therefore to be in current financial hardship. This is key.Sicivic1986 wrote: »I have been charged on one of my accounts for the past 7 years and explained that they contributed to my financial hardship at that time and also making me struggle now.
The "conflicting" posts are normally in response to people no longer in hardship who want to complain about charges on bank accounts which are no longer open.
Regardless, well done on your success and I hope you regain your financial footing soon.0 -
Thanks ineptitude for your reply
Yes that is correct I was in fact deemed to be in financial hardship currently and as I said I showed evidence that the previous bank charges hadnt helped with my situation back then either.
I was amazed at the response time too only 3 days from the reciept of my letter I had a call and the money is in my account today!

Despite all the things banks do wrong, they do seem to be quite good on financial hardship cases.I am an Independent Financial Adviser (IFA).
