Overpayment recovery - DWP staff guide

This contains general information on the process, what overpayments are recoverable, what data should be kept, what overpayments are recoverable, when a debt should be recovered, penalties, recovery from estates, ...
Interesting tit-bits.
Benefit debts over 5/6 years old (scotland/england) that have been repaid from deductions from benefit - the repayments do not restart the clock, which continues to run from the date of the original decision or notification.
So - usually unless you've paid them directly, after 5/6 years, the debt will not be collectable via debt collection, or court.
'consideration of hardship' - with acceptable expenses.
These are somewhat dated, but interesting.
For example, 'Daily newspaper or alternative TV guide', 'Pocket Money for children', 'Reasonable IT costs (including basic broadband)'
