Spouse needs to double check just to make sure it was a Joint tenancy or Not !
If No spouse will succeeded a Assured Tenancy ...
As for the rent and amount to pay
Just keep paying the rent at the registered rent amount until LL makes a move, if any !
The spouse can challenged any rent increase, but
Spouse does need legal advice from CAB or Shelter ASAP just to be on the safe side, they will more than likely refer spouse to a specialist solicitor in housing and show them All the paper work and so on ....
It's better for spouse to visit in person a local CAB office or Shelter office than phone calls ....Advice given on Assured and Regulated Tenancy, Further advice should always be sought from a Solicitor....0
