Toughening up my skin

Firstly let me upfront, I have very thin skin as I lack body fat...my fault but working on it. In the meantime though, my skin splits far easier than most people, i.e. a whack or a scratch on my shins and woos...getting to be a regular at the GPs getting dressings etc. Now I'm around dogs a lot, and this is the career I'm working towards, and they jump and scratch, not as in an attack, but as in jumping up, playing etc. Longterm solution takes time, is there anything in the meantime you could recommend in the way of potions or lotions to help toughen my skin.
Please keep to the question, I'm not wanting to discuss the bigger picture, I already know what a f***-up I am.

:heartsmil When you find people who not only tolerate your quirks but celebrate them with glad cries of "Me too!" be sure to cherish them. Because these weirdos are your true family.0

Why not ask your doctor for advise first - I would hate to suggest something that could make your situation worse.
btw you are not a ** you are just normal and we all have different problems to bear.

Maybe you could see a dermatologist privately, if you need a solution quickly? They'd be best placed to advise you on this.
As above, we all have our issues.
Hope your career with dogs goes well.0 -
Ramblers and walkers also use the suggestion in post 2, I too am low on body fat, despite my user name
I find that Palmers coco butter as a body moisturiser give me a bit more elasticity and dermal rollering has helped the skin on my face look in much better condition, thicker and less see through, good luck

What about getting protection for your skin from tights or leggings under your trousers!?Norn Iron Club member 4730

Let's just say my GPs are, I don't want to say less than sympathetic because I'm not out for the sympathy vote, but beyond "well you need to put weight on"....teaching me to suck eggs etc etc.0 -
Another option would be to have a word with a pharmacist. If there is anything in the shop likely to help they will know. I find smaller and independent stores more help than huge ones.
The suggestion about two layers of clothing is a good one, even if they are lighter weight. But a banker, engaged at enormous expense,Had the whole of their cash in his care.

My gran is in her 90s and has very thin skin which tears easily. The one thing that helps is Doublebase gel. She was using E45 (but didn't find it that great and it could sting). I had doublebase at home due to my sons eczema and told her to try it instead. She's found her skin has really improved. You can get it from a pharmacy in great big tubs (with a pump) or also in smaller tubes. Might be worth a go.
My son no longer gets eczema (Yippee!) but I find its such great stuff I always have it at home now.0
