Inexpensive car for a tall person
My son is 6' 3" and short of cash but not height!! So he wants an inexpensive car with a decent amount of headroom. He also wants it to be as economical as possible as he will be driving 25 miles each way to work. Ideally not more than four years old so a fairly current model.
He reckons he can only fit into a larger car but I'm sure I've read somewhere that some of the smaller cars provide reasonable headroom.
All suggestions welcome!

Just avoid sunroofs and he'll be fine.
I'm 6'2" and have had no issues in Corsa's, Fiestas, Clio's etc.0 -
Mazda 3, very spacious inside, some older ones not too expensive, but quite high on tax?! My husband drives mine quite comfortably, and he is 6'4!0

I knew someone who was 7ft 7 and 3/4 and he drove an old golf. He had to have the stoppers taken off the drivers seat rails so it could go as far back as the back seats but apart from that he seemed fine in it!0

I'm 5ft8 and I drive a Yaris (2102 model) and I find there's loads of headroom. I've had a few other older Yaris before that and again, plenty of head room.
He doesn't need a big car to get space for his long legs. Things like adjusting the height of the seat, adjusting the steering wheel. If he gets a basic trim of a car, he would need to check that these functions are available, as some manufacturers would leave these things out of lower spec models.
My car is very economical on fuel too.0 -
The Fiat Panda is quite tall for a small car. Quite cheap to buy and run as well.If it sticks, force it.
If it breaks, well it wasn't working right anyway.0 -

I'm a leggy 6'4 beauty and have driven around the UK in my mother's tiny Daewoo Matiz (are they still Daewoo?) without any height-related problems. I did over 10,000km driving around Australia in a Hyundai Getz - again, plenty of space. I recently picked up a 2002 K11 Nissan Micra - and would you believe it, no problems. (I've even had it for a month and I haven't even got around to moving the steering wheel up to its highest position.)
Your son's reckoning seems to be purely theoretical. Tell shorty to actually try a small car.
Yaris, Getz and Micra are all small and economical choices with plenty of headroom.Q: What kind of discussions aren't allowed?
A: It goes without saying that this site's about MoneySaving.
Q: Why are some Board Guides sometimes unpleasant?
A: We very much hope this isn't the case. But if it is, please make sure you report this, as you would any other forum user's posts, to forumteam@moneysavingexpert.com.0 -
I've seen posts on the Briskoda site from people of that height who are happily driving a Citigo.
I can't see 6feet3 being a problem in any car he might consider.0 -
I've no issues with my Suzuki Swift. Plenty headroom and ok position with the seat right back. I'm 6'2". I had a Fiesta before which had the beat driving position although my head was much nearer the roof due to the more shallow angled windscreen design sweeping back to the roof.0
