Problem with Scottish Power bill

car_r Call them up and get a complaints number then fill the online form for the ombudsman to sort it out.If more people went through the ombudsman they might do something with their new/one year old software which is not working!0

You didn't notice that you haven't paid any electricity or gas for over a year? Always surprises me when I hear cases like this. Almost to the point I don't believe people could not notice something like this for so long.
If the usage is based upon actual start and end readings then the current bill will be correct. As above, I would insist upon checking the meter yourself and making sure it is yours (with kettle test above).
6586 kWh within a 14 month period isn't unusual, especially if the property is electric only. Unless you know the correct starting and end meter reads an accurate bill for the period cannot be generated and must be estimated.0 -
My son is another hugely dissatisifed soon to be EX customer of Scottish Power. Registered a complaint with them early July concerning incorrect tariffs, wrong account numbers, direct debit set up incorrectly, call waiting times, being cut off. Still no response as of today. Registered his complaint with Ombudsman Services this week. Please people, if your complaint is 8 weeks old do not hesitate. If more people follow this route Scottish Power might - just MIGHT start looking at their abysmal administration systems. Just to add that my son found reporting Scottish Power to the Ombudsman very straight forward!0

Something strange is definitely afoot at Scpttish Power. I have just received an email advising me of an important message about my monthly DD amount. On checking the message which amounted to 1.3 pages I discovered that there would be no change to my monthly DD payment. A copy of my bill to 25/05/14 followed. Careful reading of this revealed that my account was £1165.51 in credit at 24/05/14 and there is a £729.05 credit to my account for " cancelled electricity charges". Estimated energy charges (no figures) to date (Sept 2014) amount to £555.70 and payments for June, July and August amounted to £447.00 and my account is now £617.55 in credit My DD payment is £149.00 pcm - I have no gas available where I live. Does this mean that Scottish Power have received an interest free loan from me? There is absolutely no information on my bill as to how or why these cancelled charges have been applied. I would have refused to loan money to them had I been asked! The whole thing is as clear as mud even though I can do the maths !0
