How do chargebacks work?

From what they said, its his mothers account, so she is responsible. However most of the words he emailed/text, were lies.
As with the bank account, Im just worried he may be using someone elses or found a way to create one using a false identity0 -
Ok updates! Paypal have seen the chargebacks which are showing up in the paypal resolution centre between me and the scammer. Lets see how they deal with this...0

Good luck Jimmyrambo. A victory for you will be a victory for all honest people !!0

Why didn't you just raise a case direct with paypal?
The days of paypal scammers emptying their paypal account to stop you getting any refund have long since passed.
Nowadays, if paypal say you are entitled to a refund, they refund you (no matter what a scamming seller tries).0 -

Hi all, still waiting for my scammer to reply to the chargeback via the paypal resolution centre.
Does anyone know what happens if they don't reply? I'm presuming Paypal have the power to take directly from the scammers bank account?
The person in question has already made all attempts to remove their personal information from Paypal. I assume their bank will still be on record for situations like this?0 -

They judge by what you've said which means 99.9% of the time its awarded to you by default.
As soon as a dispute is opened you lose the ability to remove bank details.
Plus as long as buyer protection covered the purchase there is no issue to you if they are unable to recover the outlay from the other party0 -
Ah got you! Well im not covered in buyer protection as I sent 2 split payments. But I called paypal last night and asked what happens if the scammer doesn't reply to the chargeback dispute. They said that paypal would probably just accept the case and pay me... This is promising?!0

I think you'll win this and the chargebacks will be successful.
Fingers crossed
