Can someone please tell me how on earth you put DVD's onto this little beauty? Whenever I put a DVD into my laptop it just wants to play it! I am guessing that I need to download some software to save & convert DVDs onto my laptop. By the way, it is a new Toshiba Equium (centrino duo)running Vista, in case you need to know. Arghhhh.... that isn't what I want to do. As you can see, I am a total novice and really need some guidance. Thanks in advance!

You need ripping software .The only thing is once you start ripping legitimate DVD's then you are breaking copyrights .0

Where do I get the ripping software? Surely if I am putting my own purchased DVDs onto my own MP3 player that must be legal?0

I think you need to take a look at uk copyright law, even ripping cds to mp3 is still technically illegal. Any kind of media transfer is illegal without explicit permission of the copyright holder.minimoneysaver wrote: »Surely if I am putting my own purchased DVDs onto my own MP3 player that must be legal?"She is quite the oddball. So I shouldn't have purchased an MP3 player that plays video, but a portable dvd player instead then? I am so confused now. I really thought that I had purchased the right thing.0

There are probably plenty of ways and means but because of the dubious legality I doubt they are allowed to be discussed on this forum, certainly discussing copyright circumvention is against forum rules. My only suggestion is try google and/or another forum."She is quite the oddball. Did you notice how she didn't even get excited when she saw this original ZX-81?"

Looks like I need to package it back up and send it back then. I didn't realised that putting DVDs onto it would be illegal. I just can't understand why the companies market these things as being able to play DVDs.0

If you have made your own DVDs or have permission to convert them (), then using software like http://downloads.zdnet.co.uk/0,1000000375,39181095s,00.htm is perfectly legal.
Using software like this to rip material and then shove it on the Net, however, is a huge no-no.
I don't think that a company would sue you if you converted files for personal use.0 -
I must admit I never realised that it was all so complicated! There must be an easier way of doing this.0
