What are our chances of obtaining a refund from credit card company please?

  • We have now been assured by the agents that they have completed a bank transfer, but omitted to say it was a BACS one which will take several days (they initially said 'we have done a bank transfer which should be in your account within 24 hours', which obviously it wasn't). The credit card company are also aware and have said they will be keeping an eye on the account, so from our end it's looking much more promising. We are just waiting patiently now ....

However, I do really feel for the poor souls who have booked the caravan from tomorrow ...
  • Very pleased to say that the bank transfer cleared this morning and we now have a full refund.

Would like to say a big thank you for all your help and advice - very much appreciated.

    Best wishes to you all.

You need to cancel the chargeback request or S75 claim, whichever it was, since you've now received a refund via bank transfer
  • We didn't end up claiming under Section 75 - the credit card company emailed us letting us know they were aware of the potential claim but we didn't end up quoting Section 75. We have emailed them again letting them know we had received the refund and the matter is settled.

Perhaps we were a little hasty, but as the agents kept saying "bank transfer" and "in your account within 24 hours" we thought they weren't being truthful as most bank transfers seem to be pretty much instant, and it was only when he stated BACS transfer that we realised it could take longer.

    A steep learning curve ...!
