Beware of your 1st Student bank Account!

I have just applied for my first student bank account with Santander after getting my A level results today and was declined because of me not been on electoral roll (after checking my Experian credit report and confirming with Santander), I was kind of relying on the railcard you get with Santander, so not sure what I am going to do now.
The electoral roll is only updated a few times each depending where you live, although it looks like I have missed out, this may help others out before applying and get a black note on your credit report, just because the banks use this to check where you are living and who you are.
I also called the local electoral roll office and was told they no longer send out, a paper request for you to enrol, its left to the individual(this may be just a local thing) to enrol online or via a paper application). I can see this catching a lot of young people out, so be careful before you apply and check your on the Electoral roll.
