building credit rating

Hi

Just been chatting with a friend and she told me that she had past credit problems to the tune of £9000 all the accounts were defaulted in the last 3 years this was due to her relationship breaking down and she was unable to pay.

She has since tried to sort herself out she now wants to try and build her credit rating back up but due to the defaults can not get accepted for any form of credit .

Does anybody please have any helpful suggestions how she can start to build this up ?

Thank You :)

Has she tried the sub prime cards?
  • Hi

yes she said she has tried Aqua, Vanquis , Capital one and she has also tried to get a phone contract on Sim only plan and been refused .

Would she be best waiting it out for 6 years for the defaults to drop off then trying again?

On every application the income and expenditure is also taken into account (only say that as a matter for consideration) so it may not be just the defaults that are affecting the application, However she could try applying again in say 6 - 12 months as the longer the default time lapses the less impact they have.
