In a pre 2012 situation with a debt collectors letter in Aug 2014, is it better to:
1. ignore and leave the data retention issue alone
2. ignore the debt collectors but complain about data retention to the relevant bodies?
3. deny debt, require the debt collector returns alleged debt to principle, AND complain?
Thoughts please. As a regular here I am seeing this one through on my own account.Under no circumstances may any part of my postings be used, quoted, repeated, transferred or published by any third party in ANY medium outside of this website without express written permission. Thank you.0 -
I would vote for:
2. ignore the debt collectors but complain about data retention to the relevant bodies.PRIVATE 'PCN'? DON'T PAY BUT DON'T IGNORE IT (except N.Ireland).

Just to add the other alternative is something like this:

or this (would need rewording as this one wasn't pre-POFA and was a disability case, involved Excel & Rossendales letters though):

It's down to what feels right for each poster - ignore, complain to the ICO - or really go on the offensive! Either way there is NO keeper liability for a pre-POFA case.PRIVATE 'PCN'? DON'T PAY BUT DON'T IGNORE IT (except N.Ireland).
