I still love M&S although I agree with certain comments. Their website is not good and they are trying to sell clothes to all ages which unfortunately results in them having lots of unsold stock. Saying that, I still managed to order some items yesterday ready for collection today :j:j:j so mustn't grumble. Hoping I'll like the leather handbag which was half price.

I think the quality is generally good also.

I ended up buying 6 pairs of the 3for2 knickers which were reduced from £6 to £3.50, and was charged for all six pairs. When I got home and went online to buy some other reduced 3for2 in another style the website did the 3for2 offer. Does anyone know whether I should have been charged for 4 pairs in store when I bought 6, or whether that was a boo-boo on the website? Does the 3for2 offer still hold when they are reduced? Is it worth going back and asking (and trying to not buy anything else).

It's worth trying going back and seeing, although I'm not sure whether they accept returns for underwear.
Personally, I'd have questioned this at the time, and if I wasn't willing to pay for all three I'd have left them.
But it's worth saying that 3-4-2 works online.
  • Couldn't agree more with your last comment surfsister. If customers could see clothes looking nice on size 14 and 5ft 2 ins mannequins they might be tempted to buy them!

And, another grievance, I didn't get sent any cafe vouchers with my statement either! Not that we have loos or a cafe in our local store anyway!!

They have seriously lost their way recently. The new website is cluttered and uninspiring and actually getting an item in the basket is so hit and miss. Also the range of clothing seems so boring.

In spite of local petitions etc ,they are about to close down their store in Redcar which has been there for 76 years. It does not close until late September but the restricted range of food is already dire. They are letting the shop die on its feet with scant regard for their existing customers' needs. Deeply disappointing; I had expected better from them. We know it is not a charity but this shop has given them profits for 76 years, and its staff and customers deserve better treatment.

Got a few things in the sale, but only things that were half price.
I think M&S need to see that their prices are too high for people now.
The sale should definitely be at 50%, not "up to" as some things have £5 off and that's it.
By next week it will be 75% off no doubt, then I think people will consider.

also my mum went to Leeds city centre store, which was rubbish. I bought my things on-line.

I was in Nottingham today (ironically my former workplace!) and I got two bras for £11. I'm a bit of a strange size in that I've found most high street shops (with the exception of the plus size places which I tend to avoid as the prices are horrific) don't go up to my size but M&S do and there were some lovely bras in my size. I had been eyeing up the ones I bought at full price but ended up buying them in a different more practical set of colours so I was pleased to get them in the colours I wanted in the sale :) they did have some nice clothes in but I specifically went in looking for a bra so didn't really look at the clothes.

I got 2 M & S bras in their 2 for £10 offer yesterday, still in box, price had been scrubbed out but you could see they were £17 each originally, and they sometimes have more unusual sizes.
If you go down to the woods today you better not go alone.

Unfortunately I live in Leicestershire and I don't drive but I was in Nottingham that day to pick something up for my friend so I called into a few shops while I was there.
    Thanks anyway :)

I went back to M&S to question the 3for2 knickers, the guy behind the till was very honest and said not they were now priced individually and the 3for2 stickers had been taken off them. He said he'd been talking to a customer the previous day to say it was the reduction in the sale was really tiny - they knickers are £6 each reduced to £3.50, but if you buy 3for2 they work out at £4 each so not a massive price drop - in the sale you save 50p. I had already bought some when there was 20% off so they are a better price.

They were doing them 3for2 plus discount on the website so I ordered a load of different ones on there, I am now drowning in knickers!!! I need to do a knicker audit to make sure I've not over-bought (a real danger in the sales!)
