    Thanks for your replies everyone.

bigjl, I was looking at the BluResponse so it's good to read of someone who rates them.

Funny what you should say about the Continentals, those are on my car now and have worn in the same manner as you described, also with having had regular checks/adjustments.

    Appreciate all the help guys.

My Acceleras are All Season and can't say i felt any more secure than on a standard tyre.

A lot less secure I would have thought. Acceleras are ditchfinders.

Aren't they Sh1tFit specials? Typical example of crap tyres marked as M+S so they can sell them as all-weather when actually they should be sold as no weather.

I'm looking for the best all rounder. I would very much like to be able to get winter tyres but I'm not in a position to afford to buy 2 sets of tyres and pay the associated fitting costs so I want the best all season tyre I can get.

I've been looking at A - braking rating and C fuel efficiency ratings but as I said, some tyres that have been recommended are much less than those ratings but more expensive.

I take those ratings with a pinch of salt

Kumho Ecsta is a very good tyre but rates B/E. At £60 fitted through blackcircles, its good value.

But if you are looking for ultimate performance then Dunlop Bluresponse or Goodyear efficient grip performance rate higher at A/C and cost more.

I doubt you would notice any difference in practice.

I was also leaning towards the Dunlop Sport BluResponse, until I saw a lot of online reviews saying that the wear rate on these was apalling. Now I'm considering the Goodyear Efficient Grip Performance, which are a similar rating and price-but then Which? rated them as 'one of the noisiest tyres on test'.
    Can anyone comment?

bigjl's earlier posts suggest the opposite.

A rating of 'E' means that the tyre has not been tested in that category

The technicalities are explained here but it's a bit boring

Plenty of very good mid-range options:
    - Kumho
    - Hankook
    - Vredestein

A lot less secure I would have thought. Acceleras are ditchfinders.

Only real issue i have with the Acceleras is they are slightly more noisy than the J rated Dunlops and Pirellis.

And they are slightly narrower which leave the wheels vulnerable to kerb rash as the wheel touches first.

They are All Season not Winter though.

They grip well in the wet and the snow.

Always straight and true under braking.

They now have over 25k on them and are probably worn about half way.

I wouldn't class them as ditchfinders.

They are not Chinese but rather Indonesian.

Probably much closer to Korean makes such as Kumho and Hankook than Chinese tyres.

If you give it too much right foot in the wet they will lose traction but my car has around 450ftlbs of torque off the top of my head.

I probably won't buy them again as i would prefer to spend little more for Kumhos or Hankooks.

I have not seen any negative reviews of the Dunlop Blue Response but they were just out when i had them fitted last year.

But i can confirm they are excellent on the little Clio dci.

Goodyear efficent grip are ok. We had them amongst other GoodYears like the NCT2 on the Astras at work and on a few Zafiras.

They were good tyres but no match for the Michelin Primacy tyres they put on later when the tyre contract changed to Michelin.

They were much better than Michelin Energy tyres though tbey bad poor wet weather grip though i think they have improved that issue with the new Michelin Energy tyre.
