Tesco credit card dilemma

I have a Tesco World Master card. I would very much prefer to have a Tesco Clubcard Credit Card. This, apparently, is not possible without a 6 month gap between closing the MasterCard a/c and opening the Clubcard Card a/c.

Surely this is madness?
I really DO NOT want to be without a Tesco credit card of some form for 6 months. I use my Tesco card a lot, and always pay in full every month. To be without Tesco credit and its benefits for a full 6 months would be a nightmare for me.

Please, does anyone know of a way around this 6 month rule?

Speak to them and explain the situation. Tesco should be able to cancel your details from the system completely, allowing you to reapply.

Why do you want to change? You get more points per £ with the world card than the clubcard card (assuming you've had it for some years).

Very true. The Tesco World MasterCard is no longer available to new customers. The word on the street is that Tesco withdrew it because it was too good for customers. :D

Is that true? Thank you for pointing that out, Denise. Yes I have had it for ages and I understood that you get more points with the Clubcard card. I certainly am not getting many points/vouchers back for the amount I use it. Will have to check that out again. Thx

The World credit card gives you 1 extra point for every £2 spent.

The Clubcard credit card only gives you 1 extra point for every £4 spent.

I just got my Tesco card out to have a look! It is a World Card but we have had a Tesco credit card for years and I always assumed it was just a Clubcard. All I know is that EON energy will not give us points anymore!!

I used to think that BUT you get lots off any petrol/diesel and you do not need a voucher. We both drive and really notice it because we are currently getting 9p off a litre. If we did not drive I might not be as happy. You just put your card into the Tesco pay ay pump and it asks if you want your 9p per litre discount applied this time.

I appreciate you have to spend £50 in a shop (or over several shops) to qualify for at least 2p/litre on fuel discounts but it's great you don't have to spend £50 in one go anymore to obtain a voucher.

Going to be hard adjusting once the scheme ends in September (although I think any savings awarded in September will be valid through October 31st.)

Why would you want a card with that awards less points for the same spend?

Don't they send a voucher for free 600 extra points annually too?

What are you expecting to get?

    Hi Mrs pbradley936

Hope you don't mind me jumping in here but thought you might be interested in how you can continue to receive Tesco Clubcard points from us.

Whilst the old Tesco Clubcard scheme ended on 18 January 14, it was replaced by another arrangement called E.ON Rewards. These rewards can be exchanged for either Tesco Clubcard points or High Street Shopping Vouchers.

To receive the rewards, you'll need to be on an eligible tariff and opt in to the scheme.

All our current dual fuel and electricity tariffs are eligible. There's more details on our website.

Older tariffs (from before 6 December 13) with an end date, won't be eligible. Also, if you only take gas from us, this won't qualify either.

If you've registered with our website, you can opt in online through here. Or, just contact us and we'll be happy to do it for you.

Once sorted, we'll give you 1500 Reward Points each year. These are earned daily and will show on your bill on a monthly basis.

They're valid for 2 years from the date received and can be exchanged for 1500 Tesco Clubcard points (worth up to £60 with Clubcard Boost), £15 worth of Bonusbond Gift Vouchers or a mixture of both.

Bonusbond vouchers can be used in over 18,000 UK outlets. Again, there's more information on our website.

Hope this is of interest Mrs pbradley936. Let me know if you need any more details as happy to help.
