Debit cards and credit ratings

Hello,

I'm hoping to get a mortgage in a couple of years so have got a credit card for that reason.

However, about 3 times in the last 3 years, I have gone over-drawn on my debit card, and got a charge of £10 for this.

Will this affect my credit rating?

Thanks.

In all probability no as long as it was repaid within the month. Credit check yourself for the £2 statutory fee and find out if it was reported.
    :footie:
:p Regular savers earn 6% interest (HSBC, First Direct, M&S) :p Loans cost 2.9% per year (Nationwide) = FREE money. :p

Yeah it was, it was only over by about 83p as well or something silly! :(

I shall do in a few months time, I've heard checking your score also has a negative affect?

Whoever told you that, punch them. They're wrong.

You don't have a credit rating, so the answer is no.

You don't have a "score" so this is untrue.
  • As HappyMJ says - get your own credit record from Equifax or Experian. It only costs a couple of quid and you can see if there are any other issues that may affect future credit applications.
