Accidentally booked 15 year old as an adult on Expedia

Hi MSE,

I have booked a flight on Ryanair leaving next week on the 22nd August.

However, I have put that there are 2 adults, when in fact, the 15 year old classifies as a child. There's nothing I can do now in terms of changing the booking so will it be OK?

Thanks in advance,

Rory

P.S - I'm aware that there are similar threads but I need peace of mind.

I didn't even know Expedia sold Ryanair flights.

    It'll be fine though.
  • Haha why wouldn't they? Anyway cheers, I'll update on the situation as and when for anyone else with the same issue.

I wouldn't risk it. I had to get a child's booking added to mine a few week's ago. I used Ryanair's live chat to get it sorted out. You can't request live chat but it appears in certain areas of the website so I kept going into my booking as if to request allocated seating and after a few attempts the live chat option popped up. They were incredibly helpful. I also did the same thing to request a medical waiver letter. I typed up my questions/reference numbers etc, and cut and had them ready to paste when live chat opened up.

because Ryanair does not allow anyone else to sell their flights

    as in item 2

when an agent takes a booking they seem to book the flight impersonating the passenger using your details and payment details
  • i once booked my 2 year old as adult on ryanairs website- its same price and they didnt care

    I didn't know that. That's very interesting.

I think I'll just WING it (if you'll pardon the pun).
  • Most airlines treat 12 years and up as adults anyway - IMO there should not be a problem.

Last year my 15year old was booked on the flights and in the hotel as an adult, by the travel agent, no-one bat an eyelid. She was even given an adult all inclusive wristband and used it to her advantage at the bar

At 15 they need adult tickets, so it makes no difference.

The only issue is that Ryanair does not accept unaccompanied young people below a certain age, but since your party includes an adult there will not be any kind of issue.

Tour operators do use Ryanair, i'm not sure how they get round it because I've never given them the customers card details. Citalia have been using them for years and Superbreak use their flights as well now.
