Hiya,
I am currently in on 800 on my overdraft facility with Barclay's, and 500 with first direct. Barclay's are now charging 75p a day for using this (which i think is ridiculous) I am looking at getting an Interest free credit card to transfer the balance to. I am aware that I have only been on the electoral roll at my current address for 1 year, which makes my credit rating poor) so dont want to apply to be rejected.
Basically I just need some advice on what to do, I like to think I am financially savvy when it comes to things like this but I'm stuck!!
Thanks.
Max

The only cards that will suit this purpose are those that offer money transfers, that is a transfer to your current account.
I think the only place that offers these to new customers is MBNA and cards issued by them (such as virgin etc).
How much can you afford a month towards these debts? Given that the debts are fairly small you may be better off just focusing on clearing them as quick as you can or possibly seeing if you are able to get accepted for something like a nationwide current account with an interest free overdraft for a year.
In terms of money transfer cards - you could take a look at the mse eligibility checker to give you an idea of your chance of being accepted.
If you choose the route don't forget to factor in the balance transfer fee.A smile enriches those who receive without making poorer those who giveor "It costs nowt to be nice"0 -
