computer games from usa

I buy Nintendo DS games from USA, but do computer games from America work the same over here, or are they a different region? I do apologise if this has been asked before, but i didn't find it on any searches.

    Not sure if that's really dependant on the game - it's usually the console hardware that would be the problem as it's supposed to display on NTSC and the PAL TVs we've got here don't speak that foreign tongue.
