Hi,

My 2004 Ford Fiesta MK6 came with 1 remote locking tibbe key (as can be seen in top photo):

..... and 1 normal non-remote key:

Somehow I have lost the non remote "manual" key, which I never used, but now could really do with having more than just the 1x remote locking tibbe key.

Any idea how I get another remote or non remote key replacement please?

Googling it has just made my head spin and most sites say I need 2x remote locking tibbe keys to programme a new 3rd key.

I just want another key in case I lose this, my only key to my car.

Please help!

Take the key that you have to a locksmiths or try Timpsons.
They should be able to cut a new key and copy the security chip in your existing one, however this is very expensive (£30-£40)

If you go to Ford, it is unbelievably astronomically expensive for a replacement key coded to the car (hundreds of pounds)

I'd have a very good search for the existing one.

Timpsons will only clone your key. You cannot add or remove keys with cloned keys.

2 brand new keys coded to your car was £160 last time it got mentioned. So not hundreds for a single key. Some locksmiths can create new keys and not just clone it. Much cheaper but do shop around.

You need 2 unique working and not cloned keys to add/remove more.

  • Thanks, but I'm even more confused now.

No wonder people just go to an officalFord dealer (and get ripped off).

So I can't get another remote contol 3 button key done then as I only have the one original remote contol 3 button key ?

    Hi,

Timpsons will copy your key to a plain key (no buttons) for around £30.
This will do what you want. (Get you into the car with the lock on the door, and start the engine)

If you want another key with remote buttons that will work, go to Ford.
Why not ring them and ask for a price? (Including coding to the car)

Thank you for explaining that in plain English! :T

    P.S. Are Timpsons trustworthy?

Yes you can add another remote key exactly the same as adding a normal key. If you want that key to start the car you need to clone the chip in the key you have or get it programmed.

You can get the remote to operate the locking. You can do that yourself. But without coding it wont allow you to start the car.

If you still have the old key you could have taken the glass chip out and put it into a used remote key and then have 2 working remote keys.

  • I think you may need to check this on Ford Agency or Service center. they provide you the duplicate key of your car. You may need to go with your car registration copy and car owner information then they provide you the duplicate key.
