Santander Student Account

Hi,

Just been in to try and open this account but I've been told I need to either be a first year student, or have a student account elsewhere. Is this the case for all student accounts?

I left my studies a few years ago (after doing an HND) but will be entering 3rd year in September. I have no student accounts elsewhere.

I have also experienced the same issue this morning.
I booked an appointment 2 weeks ago at my branch and wasn't advised I needed to be a first year. I've just started my second year of UG study and don't have a student account with anyone else. I couldn't believe they have such a restrictive banking practice, it's ridiculous. The advisor even had to call head office to find this clause on the website and there is no explanation given as to why they have this clause. :mad:
I even posted my issue on their Facebook page today, guess what the reply was? 'Sorry for the inconvenience but it's in the t&c's'.
So still no explanation forthcoming, and I've had accounts with them for years with no debts.
Suffice to say I've opened a student account with someone else today!! Santander, you can kiss my sweet cheeks! :rotfl:
