notice of prosecution for speeding

I was done last December on the new road through Ravenscraig ... 40 in a 30 (even though it was dual-carriageway with a physical separation between carriageway). In April the limit was raised to 40!

Indeed it doesn't. Stupid person driving at a stupid speed. I realise that speed limits can often be treated as a guidance (with a nod to Pirates of the Caribbean) depending on road conditions (and the police may give some leeway), but 75 in a 40 () is totally irresponsible and completely unjustifiable.
Don't be daft. I was pulled after doing "over 85" in a 30 last year, and the police, rightly, just told me not to do it again.
No-one was in any danger, so it was clearly not irresponsible either.0 -

The police do seem to be a law unto themselves regarding speeding, a few years ago now I was doing 90 on the motorway, looked in my rear view mirror and there was a cop car virtually sat on my bumper, must have known how fast I was travelling as he would have had too be going the same speed, so I pulled into first lane and slowed down, cop car went past me, anyway about 5 miles up road I passed the same cop car parked in one of those police hideout things they have, so I made sure I went past at 70mph, a car trundled past me(cant have been doing more than 75mph) just as we passed the cop car and the copper pulled him in front of me, it was as if the copper was saying to me, look I could have pulled you earlier if I felt like it!!Take every day as it comes!!0 -

It was December, around 5.30pm and dark. The police were parked off a roundabout ooposite the entrance to the new Ravenscraig sports centre, with no lights on (and no street lights where they were parked) and so very difficult to see.

The little nib opposite O'Donnell Way was where they were parked, and I was coming down New Craig Road.
As I said, that road is now a 40 limit all the way until you get to the roundabout at the end of Robberhall Road (where there is an entrance to New College).0
