CPP Claim rejected due to an insurance claim made in 2014

Hi,

I submitted my CPP claim as advised by the provider only to be told that whilst I would have been eligible for a refund to the value of £159, I am no longer eligible for it as I actually used my policy for the first time this year (I made a claim following the theft of my handbag and the payout received for this amounted to £188). I was under the impression that appealing the mis-selling of the policy related to earlier years from 2005 and therefore an insurance claim made in 2014 would not effect my mis-selling claim - is this correct? Should I still be entitled to the £159 they originally stated? Is it worth appealing?

Thank you in advance for your advice.

You paid them £159 for cover
You used the cover and got back £188 - a net profit of £29

You should accept that and move on, clearly the policy was not mis-sold as it was useful for you.

People are rich because they spend less money. A poor man buys $10 boots that last a season or two before he's walking in wet shoes and has to buy another pair. A rich man buys $50 boots that are made better and give him 10 years of dry feet. The poor man has spent $100 over those 10 years and still has wet feet.

  • Or you can be put back in the position as if you had never had the policy in which case they will give you £159 and you give them £188

£159 paid minus £188 received. On your computer you should have a calculator, if you do this sum it will tell you have much you are due.

And yet, sadly, our office manager still insists on buying physical calculators... That can't even do the scientific stuff that the built in Windows one can!
