Switching Service - Sole Account switch to Joint ?

Hello all,

We are playing the game of switching accounts for the opening bonus etc etc and are to the point where I want to switch a First Direct account (In my wife's name) to a Santander 123 account in our joint names, this will be a bills account and we will then leave this account running.

Can we switch a Sole account DD's/SO's into a joint account ?

I have contacted Santander and after a brief pause for thought the perspn on the phone states "Ummm, I think so, give it a go"

I am not entirely convinced they knew what they were talking about so does anyone have any experience in doing this ?

Thanks

I believe "joint to joint" and "soul II soul" are the only combinations allowed.

Perhaps the OP's reason for switching comes under the "etc etc" in their post, ie 3% interest and cashback on DDs?

Maybe they'd rather not switch DDs themselves, preferring instead to get it done with guarantees and within 7 working days?

However, there are switching incentives available via various cashback sites such as Quidco (£35). So that'd almost cover the first 18 months of account fees.

Yorkshireboy you are bang on the money! :) Have both got Halifax Reward, FD, just opened M&S accounts and will be opening co-op accounts.

I completely forgot that we could switch our dd's manually! (Tired from shiftwork)

The 123 would be opened through TCB and then we'd leave the household bills running through the account for the cashback.

    Thanks all for answering.
