I’m off to Liverpool next week for a mini-break (three nights in total), I used to go there fairly often when I was at Uni in Sheffield as two of my housemates were from there, but that was 15 years ago and I know it has changed hugely since then with millions being spent on the City.
From anyone who has been what would you recommend seeing? Galleries, museums, day trips, bus tours, pubs, restaurants, libraries, historical sites, music or football related sights, anything at all!
For what it is worth I’m staying in the Liverpool One Premier Inn.
Thanks

I was there last week. There's http://www.biennial.com on now with lots of exhibitions and events. Everywhere's walkable from your hotel
There's lots of Beatles stuff - Magical Mystery Tour bus trip, Beatles museum, Cavern, Casbah, guided walks - and ferry cross the mersey and always a buzz round the Albert Dock
My personal highlights were:
John and Paul houses http://www.nationaltrust.org.uk/beatles-childhood-homes/. very insightful guides with lot of inside info from Paul and his bro Mike, Yoko et al. Last 2.5 hrs max 15 ppl
Tate http://www.tate.org.uk/visit/tate-liverpool which has decent cafe and shop
Bluecoat gallery http://www.thebluecoat.org.uk/ cafe too
Walker gallery http://www.liverpoolmuseums.org.uk/walker/ has cafe too0 -
Case italia is a great reasonably priced restaurant in the centre, you can't book unless there are 6 or more of you so can involve queuing. Empire theatre is great if there are any good shows on. Red hot world buffet in Liverpool one very nice. There's also a hotel chocolat hot chocolate cafe with lots of lovely flavours0

take the train to New Brighton if the weathers good for a bit of seaside. if your going soon its Beatles week and the Mathew street festival bh weekend . There is also a zip line across Liverpool which looks fun to do. go up st johns tower ( radio city tower ) & panarama restaurant for great views . Liverpool is IMHO the best city to enjoy stuff within a very small area . enjoy:cool: hard as nails on the internet . wimp in the real world :cool:0

Pubs are an area of expertise!
There are many historic ones, unique to Liverpool such as lion tavern near moorfields or the old docks prison, the bridewell- right by Liverpool 1. There are lots with live music with the caledonia being pub of the year, the near by belvedere does the best g&ts in town. The clove hitch is another recommendation particularly for their theatre menu.0
