Simple old-fashioned caustic soda is very good at burning through hair and pretty much most other things in plugholes. It's far cheaper, and in my experience far more effective, than Mr. Muscle or other branded drain cleaners. Unfortunately you don't often see it on most supermarkets shelves, but if you have an old-fashioned hardware shop, or Wilkos, or something similar near you, it's easily available there. Just be careful with it and read the instructions - it's good stuff, but you don't want to be getting it on your skin. Or even worse, in your eyes.

Our newly fitted shower tray sounds just like yours and yes, the water level looks high in that corner but it's never overflowed. We have a fast flow waste trap on ours which is essentially just a bigger holding pen for water before it whizzes off down the waste pipe - it just holds it in the waste trap under the tray instead of in the shower tray - the name I find misleading as the water flows no faster, anyway, I digress....my point is don't panic! If it drains as soon as you turn the shower off then don't worry. There's a good lip on the shower door/enclosure of about an inch right? It'd have to slop up a long way to rise over that.

Ours slows down every six months or so. I pull out the most disgusting glob of hair you've ever seen (not mine I add).

Most shower traps are accessible from the top ... with ours I just take off the 'grid' and then twist and pull out a tube (this forms the water trap) - then I can pull out the crap!

Forget chemical removal, get a drain snake and use that, in conjunction with the above advise to remove debris via the drain hole. A wire coat hanger can also be useful.

Just as a warning if you do use any form of chemical drain cleaner, make sure you pour it through a funnel to avoid any possible damage to your fittings.

Just a thought, the correct type of drain/tap has been fitted hasn't it, ie, you can remove the strainer basket from above?

Considering this is a money saving forum, how about considering the flow rate of the shower?
Run it into a container of known volume & time it with a stopwatch.
If >8 litres per minute, get a lower flow shower head.
I have just over 4 litres per minute flow and that's still a good shower.

It's a fair point but I think you'd be on your own with that 1.
Most folks want their 6kw showers uprated to 10kw and pumps added to low pressure systems.

I think the effedct of a good blasting shower overides any savings.
