Sentinel Card Protection with Lloyds Current Account

Hi,
I've had Sentinel Card protection with my Lloyds Silver Account for years (£9 a month including basic breakdown & mobile insurance) but have never really understood its purpose/ benefits.
If my cards were lost stolen and I didn't have this protection, would my bank not assist me in cancelling/ re-issuing the cards & cover me for fraudulent use anyway?
I'm attempting to spring clean my finances and am looking to switch to a better account but am not sure if this benefit is worth sticking with or ditching. Thanks.
